Last summer, at Maubuisson Abbey, a mirror artistic collaboration emerged between Like Mirror and visual artist Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves. As part of the monographic exhibition “Khépri, Sorter au jour”, the artist unveiled his masterful work, “Nekromanteion”, created in particular with two-way stretch mirrors from Like Mirror.
Nestled 35 km north of Paris, Maubuisson Abbey was the scene of an unprecedented metaphysical and artistic exploration. Inspired by ancient Egyptian tales of immortality and the funerary rituals of ancient Greece, Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves took us on a transcendental journey, where shadows and light mingle to evoke the mysteries of the beyond.
At the heart of this sensory experience is “Nekromanteion,” a striking work that captivated visitors. Installed in the nuns’ room of the abbey, this monumental creation invites spectators to confront their own reflection in the one-way mirror stretched canvas Like Mirror which infinitely reflects the light passing through the thousands of tiny holes perforated in a mirror polished stainless steel plate.
. To the captivating sound of electroacoustic music, visitors are transported into a universe of dark nebulae, where stars are born and die.
The collaboration between Like Mirror and Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves brought this grandiose mirror work to life. Thanks to the one-way stretched canvas of Like Mirror, the artist was able to create an immersive and hypnotic space, where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur. The infinite reflections of the silver stretched canvas add a mystical dimension to the work, inviting viewers to a deep meditation on the nature of the universe and life.
This exemplary collaboration between Like Mirror and Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves demonstrates the importance of art in our quest to understand the world around us. By combining creativity and innovation, these two entities offered visitors to Maubuisson Abbey an unforgettable artistic experience, where the magic of mirrors meets the poetry of art.
